The Working Mom Quiz

Today you get the chance to leave work extra early and go home.  You walk in the door, change out of your work clothes and you: (pick one)

a.  Start preparing a meal
b.  Start cleaning an area that is cluttered
c.  Do laundry
d.  Put away laundry
e.  Play with your kid(s)
f.   Talk with your kid(s)
g.  Talk with your husband
h.  Read a book
i.   Watch TV – your channels

k.  Take the dog for a walk
l.   Take a nap

Were you able to pick just one?  I doubt it.  There is no right or wrong answer.  But the guilt of the working mom starts to set in.  I confront these choices 3-4 times a week.  What should I do? Do I do for me, kids, hubby, pets?   No matter which one I choose, someone or something gets left out.

Instead of trying to figure out the right choice, I do what feels right at that moment.  Sometimes I come home and knock off five items on the list.  Other times I walk in say hello then head off to take a shower and read in bed.

Do I still feel guilty?  Sometimes but I have come to terms with the fact that I need to take care of me first to be able to be there for everyone else.
